RECORDING ENGINEERING

Jeff T. Smith has been producing and engineering recordings all over the planet for almost a decade.  He received his B.A. in Music Recording Technology from Bowling Green State University (Ohio, U.S.A.), and his MMus in Music Technology and Computer Music from the University of Leeds (Leeds, U.K.).  Between obtaining these two degrees, Jeff spent over a year completing internships at two of Chicago’s finest recording studios.  At Engine Music Studios he worked under the direction of Brian Deck (Iron & Wine, the Counting Crows, Margot & the Nuclear So and So’s, Hot Club de Paris, Califone, Owen, and Modest Mouse).  At Electrical Audio, Jeff worked with Steve Albini (Nirvana, Low, the Pixies, Mono, the Breeders, the Wedding Present, Dianogah, Iggy & the Stooges, Neurosis, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, etc.).  As well as recording and mixing several albums for his solo project ‘Juffage’ and all his previous groups, Jeff has also recorded a wide spectrum of other bands and solo artists.

In late 2010, Jeff began engineering at Loom Studios (pictured above) but does plenty of freelance elsewhere and other work out of his home studio, THE BUNGALOW.

Recently, Jeff spent time recording Leeds-based groups Sky Larkin, These Monsters, Heart Ships, RUNNERS, & Bearfoot Beware.  Here’s what they came up with:
